 RECYCLED BEVERAGE CAN - ALUMINIUM

    I got Inspired by the Cosplay de UMIGOMI Zero competition to recognize unique activities using cosplay to address the issue of ocean debris (umigomi is a combination of the Japanese words for ocean (umi) and waste or trash (gomi)).  This competition is used as a medium for raise awareness of the issue of ocean debris and contribute to its reduction from the unique perspective of cosplayers, and to give exposure to superior endeavors being carried out around the world.  I thought about using an unused beverage ca to be accessoriess material that have selling worth. 

    I saw many cosplayers from Indonesia who participated in this competition last year and won prestigious champions. For me, this event is one of the efforts to help the world with the sign of creativity to make unused goods into high-value goods. I've made several accesoriess that came from unused beverage can.

Tokyo Revengers Inspired Earrings

THE FIRST ATTEMPT FAILED and THE NEXT SECCEEDED

    Last year I tried to make earrings inspired by Hallyu Wave (Korean inspired earrings) with asymmetrical shapes and take the original color of aluminium (beverage can material). Unfortunately, I shut down the project because it didn't achieve the end result as expected. I used to love buying earrings with simple and elegan style because they look beautiful and charming. At first, I got influenced by the Hallyu Wave through korean drama also kpop idols, and then I had this thought "Why not try to make my own earrings?" I finally thought about making it myself and it wasn't easy.

TOKYO REVENGERS INSPIRED EARRINGS

    So this year I tried again, trying to make my own earrings with a different inspiration. I previously got inspiration from the Hallyu Wave, but now it comes from Japan with the anime production. I've watched and read manga from Tokyo Revengers and can't help but feel my curiosity in making it into accessories. I made two types of accessories, namely key chains and earrings.

    At first I was afraid of failing again, because the previous one I had spent quite a lot of paint on and the results were far from good. But this time I tried to maintain my spirit by making accessories from my favorite characters in Tokyo Revengers: Izana and Mitsuya.

    I had enough trouble making accessories belonging to Izana (key chains and earrings) because the red paint I used took about 3-4 days to dry thoroughly. Plus the gold bezel on the earrings is also a unique thing but also complicated to work with. For Mitsuya, I'm having trouble with the white lines on his earrings. As for Kakucho there are no significant difficulties. Plus I made Hanma-inspired earrings.

    I'm quite happy with the end result of the accessories I worked on. The experience of working at a jewelry company turned out to be enough to make me have a little sentimental feeling. Color, size and meterial greatly affect the taste / image that you want to give to customers.

COSTUME DESIGN

    Early on I worked in a theme park, I designed some kind of costume. Back then, I was just starting to design digitally through Photoshop by using mouse pad, but now I started to use pentab and it's more convenient to do. Designing is not easy, sometimes you need to re-describe the concept given by creative and after so have to be discussed again to find the same goal. Some of the designs I made had both positive and negative impressions. These are some designs that I dislike the most, either in terms of design or when it is finished.

GLASS CHARACTER

    This design is made for women as well as men. This costume is inspired by people who perform on stage in glass costumes. If it is considered in terms of design, actually I think these designs were good enough because I got positive comments both from the boss and creative team.

    The thing I dislike most about this costume is the process of making it as well as the finished result when used by the cast. At this project, I got responsibility to find the vendor to create this costume after finish designing. To be honest, I choose not to work with friends I've known for a long time. I don't know, sometimes a lot of bad things happen and this is one example. Bad things happen when I in contact with my old friend to work on this costume. There's some misunderstanding on both party that lead to chaos in production process. Luckily I have a good senior and boss, so I can deal with this problem with a cool head and finish this project pretty well.

    The thing I'm worried from this costume is that there are glass ornaments with pointed ends, thus endangering the cast who wear these clothes. I feel very guilty about this and because this misunderstanding caused a terrible thing in some ways.

CHEERS DESIGN

    This costume has some design changes from the reference, sometimes I'm asked to design with colorful themes with complicated designs, sometimes also back to designs that are not too complicated and tend to be ordinary. This was the finished result of a wide variety of rejected designs and I finally managed to pass a pair of designs for cheers. In the original design, there is a logo on the middle of the top. The colors of this design are adapted to the zone the cheers are located in.

    The thing I least like about this costume is the final product (worn by cast). Actually, a bad thing happened when the laundry team accidentally made a mistake when washing this shirt. These clothes shrink so they can't be used and need to be repaired immediately because they are part of the show. At that time the cast was very angry and even led to a great war of two divisions.

    Finally after getting extra care to this clothes, all the costumes can be used again. I think this accident can be a learning process for a wardrobe team as well as laundry team to support each other. Tbh,eEach costume has a different characteristic of fabric that are used to support the design so that it can achieve a beautiful shape when worn by the cast.

CHEERS DESIGN

 KANCOLLE: SHIMAKAZE COSPLAN

    Years ago, I have Kancolle cosplay plan on my list. I've watched the anime and decided to take one of the characters to cosplay. I actually bought the wig and made the clothes, but for one reason or another, this cosplan did not run smoothly and I decided not to continue this cosplay.

RENSOUHOU & SHIMAKAZE'S SHOES

    I'm actually not very good at crafting with eva foam because I'm used to making small-scale crafting such as head accessories, brooches and so on. Furthermore, I ventured to create a cosplay prop for Shikamakaze - Kancolle. Here's my first attemp to create Rensouhou (three gun turret familiars which originated from Shimakaze's three twin 12.7 cm/50 naval gun turrets). 

    I made Rensouhou from scratch. Initially only capitalized recklessly to make cosplay this property. First, I made the pattern first, then cut eva foam according to the pattern. Next unite the eva foam pieces to form the archetype of Rensouhou. The next step is to coat eva foa with waterproof paint all over the surface, wait until it is dry and can be coated several times if you feel something is less covered. After drying, it can be continued by coloring with the basic color of Rensouhou with silver metalic paint color. Once completely dry, you can coat the entire surface with a clear colored spray paint.

    So this time, I will show you the finished product of my crafting. Just reminder that I'm just a beginner in eva foam crafting, if there will be shape or color that does not correspond to Rensouhou, pls be nice to give me advice/ comments.

 INDONESIA CULTURE : COSTUME PARADE

    So, there's an incoming request to create a couple design at this parade. But there's something different about the design I used to make. This time I was asked to make a design with the acculturation of Indonesian culture. To be honest, I was a little scared when I'm working on it because when it came to culture, the responsibility was higher because I'm worried that there was a misplaced design on the clothes I made.

    This time the design focuses more on Balinese culture. I saw the Balinese dance costume several times and thought about putting some details on the costume this time. Usually our division works on costume design only, but it can widen on accessories or properties depending on the demand from creative (there are other divisions that take care of accessories and property, so it is better to work with people who are experts in their field).

    The couple were inspired by the princess and prince from fictional stories. Those who will wear this costume will use hover-boards so there are design specifications made to support the activities of the cast later. I managed to finish this female character design well, unfortunately on the male design I had difficulty on the accessories and property part, so I only worked on half of it. 

CAN CAN DANCE: COSTUME SHOW

    One design that I think is quite time consuming to work on is this design. So, the request this time is to make an outfit that will be used in the Can Can dance. So previously, we had a design and it had been finished in the form of clothing. For one thing or another, I was asked to create a new design to customize with the color design of this show stage.

    The demand is quite difficult this time because the dance features sexy side of the dancer with a fairly high leg movement and also has a difficult part, such as: salto & split. However, it must be adapted to eastern cultural cultures (Indonesia), so the costume should not be too open.

   I made several designs with eight different color variants. Specifically these clothes, are distinguished into two: used for shows and parades. Unfortunately, the parade design will not necessarily be made of finished clothes or will only be used as a design draft only. So, the design I showed you this time was the clothes used in the latest show. 

    The design turn out so beautiful in form of real costume. This was a great work of our vendor with supervised by our head of project.

    My division team included only three people. Two people have the task of designing (me and my friend) and then supervised by the head of the project and thus he will present the design to the CEO and other officials. Once all the designs are approved, it will be divided who will take care of the production process. 

    I happen to be one of the old employees, so I'm in charge of managing the in and out of money from our devision with the help of finance team (Bali branch). These designs above just a few of new design project, which is  mean a new settlement / new managing in terms of money. These designs requires a new price quote to finance team on the centre branch (Jakarta). I'm glad we had our leader who take the resposibility for all the tasks, he manage all processes runs smoothly also share every tasks to each person. So everyone had different resposibility to watch over (costume).

    Tbh, three months less to compose the design until the making of costumes is not an easy thing. A lot of divisions play an important role here, but I certainly don't tell you anything. Maybe on another occasion, they'll appear in my story on this blog.

INDOOR THEME PARK IN BALI

    It was my first experience to work at the theme park. It's not long after I graduated from college, so I applied to be on of the worker there and glad I passed the interview as wardrobe team.  As someone who has limited work experience, this is one of though job for me. Sure at first, I troubled bcs there is no one that I can ask about the work and I stayed with the creative team for four days before the head project of wardrobe and makeup come to Bali (the seniors are stayed in Jakarta and will be moved out to Bali after all the work settled). 

    Long story short, my coworker in my division is all from Jakarta and you know what? they're work really fast! It's difficult to maintain the same work pace as them, but sure after one or two months passed, I began to work as fast as them (I'm still far behind if you compared us, perhaps it has related to work experience they've had. They're three years older than me and previously work for one of the private television in Indonesia. Sure, entertaintment industry is one of fast paced environment in work related). 

COSTUME DESIGN : ACTION ZONE

    So, we got less than a month to complete some costume designs for the opening project of this theme park. As wardrobe team division, who's taking care for the costume from budgeting to maintain the costume as well. We got some duties to create a costume design for specific zone. FYI, we had five-six zones, with different themes and designs and I got an opportunity to work for the entire design of one zone. 

    I wanna thanks to to the whole team, we manage to finish the project in time. Sure, it's difficult to persue the same idea to the CEO and other ranks of official. Furthermore, they need to do meeting quite often for bringing the ideas with the design that will match for each zones. We work in tight schedule, with three months left before the day of grand opening. 

    I think it's quite thrilling for me designing the whole costumes for one zone. Our head project told us to scrolling through web of world famous fashion brand with their latest collection to bring some idea that will match for each zone. I got victorian era costume, so I checked the web and then did digital sketching. (Its bit different to my college's life, at first we began to do research and later do brain storming and then sketching. But at work, I just do sketching bcs we had creative to do the research work).

   This project is one of my tasks that I did from 0 to 100%. From sketching, finding the vendor (the one who will sew the costume), taking care of the budgeting, and check the final parts (finished costume also final fitting for the cast of the show). I wanna thanks for the opportunity given to me to this day. I create eleven design for this zone and thanks to our head project who supervised the whole designing process, from the color matches also the lenght of each design for the costume set. I thank God for this opportunity, bcs for me this's one of big event that come to my life. From someone who doesn't really know how the show works and now is the part of backstage crew.

 GENSHIN IMPACT

    This game itself has been played by many friends on my fb timeline. Honestly, I'm very curious at first sight but I don't think it's going to work good on me bcs the spec of my phone. So, I'm not trying to download it at first released (September 2020). After completing the costume commission in early December, I finally thought about downloading some mobile games, namely Twisted Wonderland and Genshin Impact. First I just tried without expecting much & it turns out that my phone can still download GI and I play for up to 5 days. Unfortunately, after the latest update, my phone can no longer afford to continue playing it (my phone is heating up and I've set the game graphics at the lowest level still doesn't help & finally, I gave up on continuing the games).

    Since I'm a cosplayer, of course the character from GI caught my eye. Unfortunately, after seeing the details of the clothes are better done with printing techniques. I chose to just enjoy them through games, I can't imagine myself working on such complicated details lmao. So here I am, making some GI accessories samples.
